The Portuguese water dog is a working dog. Once they have a master, they will never leave their side. They are contented to be in their master’s arm, waiting for directions. Trainings can make them adhere to difficult commands. Portuguese water dog can be exposed to any members of the family, they are huggable and friendly. As a friendly dog they can easily be friends with strangers unlike other dog breeds. Their hairs are hypoallergenic, making them the most sought after dog breed for people who have allergies. Being a hypoallergenic breed, Portuguese water dog was the breed suitable for the first family of the United States of America, the Obama’s family. They named their dog Bo, the most famous Portuguese water dog breed right now.

Bo, The Portuguese Water Dog

The President of the United States of America is Pres. Barack Obama. Public has information on the President’s wife, daughters, history and even to their pet Bo, a Portuguese water dog.

The US First Family With Bo

Have you asked yourself why of all breed they go for a Portuguese water dog? Pres. Obama’s first choice for a dog was actually a shelter dog. But they didn’t go for a shelter dog because the Obama family needs to consider the situation of their daughter Maila. Maila has allergies and she needs to have a dog that is hypoallergenic.

Way back in 2008 the President said on his speech “you have earned a new puppy that is coming with us to the White House.” There have been rumors or guesswork made as to what type of breed they will have for a dog. But the guesswork stopped when finally they received a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy. Senator Ted Kennedy is a fan of Portuguese water dog. Bo was six month old when he became part of the first family’s dog. Bo, actually earned the name “first dog”, like terms given to the President’s wife “first lady”. He is not the only dog to earn the term “first dog”, those other dog associated to previous President’s earned the same title.

They received Bo as a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy in April 2009. Bo was born in Texas in October 9, 2008. Bo is one of the famous dog ever existed. If there are stars and celebrities to dog, Bo will certainly be part of it.

Bo is the first family dog. Bo might not know it but he is the most talked about dog in town. On the Pres. Speech way back in 2008, he told her daughters “you have earned a new puppy that is coming with us to the White House.” The Pres. can’t simply choose any puppy due to Maila’s condition (Obama’s daughter”. They need to come out with a dog that is hypoallergenic.  Bo was a gift given to them and the dog was six months old when he became the first family dog in April of 2009.

Bo’s name was not actually Bo at first; he was named Charlie when he was living with another family (according to the Washington Post). The breed of this dog is a Portuguese water dog. Bo was a gift given to the first’s family by Senator Ted Kennedy. The term “first dog” was actually derived from term like first lady; we have that tradition when it comes to things associated to the first family will have the same term like in the case of Bo, “first dog”.

Bo might be overwhelmed if he only knew that most people are on the look of finding information about him. He was born in Texas on October 9, 2008 and was given to the first family on April 9, 2009.

Barack Obama dog Bo!

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

Many are getting curious on Barack Obama dog Bo. Barack Obama is the president of the US and Bo is the first family’s dog.

There are many breeds of dogs, some are hairy, some are not, some are short and some are big. Of all the many breeds and kinds of dog, why did the first family choose Bo? What is Bo’s breed anyways? If you have allergies, and dogs have hairs, basically you’re not compatible. There are allergies that once you’re in contact with dogs that are not hypoallergenic, you’re allergy might get worse.

Pres. Obama on his press conference actually said that their first choice was a shelter dog. But they have to consider the condition of their daughter. She actually has an allergy that is Obama’s daughter Maila. They can’t simply choose any kind of dogs; they need to have a dog that is hypoallergenic. Their dog, Bo was actually a gift for them. Considering the condition of Obama’s daughter, that dog is really a good choice.

The dog given to the first family was a Portuguese water dog.  Bo is a male Portuguese water dog.  There are not much of Bo’s breeds nowadays. The first family enjoyed the companion of their dog, Bo. I’m sure Maila enjoyed it as well because the dog is good for her health.

The one who give Bo to the first family must have done his research well. Dogs are good to be with, enjoyable and fun, I’m sure Barack Obama dog Bo has those characteristics.

What’s Up BO, The Obama Dog!

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Bo, Obama dog is actually a male Portuguese water dog. US President Obama, when asked by reporters on what breed they have in mind, their preference was actually a shelter dog. But taking into considerations Malia’s case (Pres. Obama’s daughter), they decided to look for a breed that is hypoallergenic. That’s when Bo, came into picture, a gift given to them after months of guesswork on the breed of the dog they will have.

Even those high ranking officials have dogs as their pet. All of us regardless of the status have things in common. Dogs are really fun to be with, they take away the pressures in life and they can make u smile. Dogs really are man’s best friend. Most of the people, if asked for a pet they would want to have, the top answer would be dogs.

Dog lovers valued their dogs same as they value themselves and every member of the family. Some consider their dogs as their daughters or sons, especially those rich people. They pampered their dogs so much without considering the money they spent on taking care of their pets. Anyways, they don’t have to worry about money, they’re already rich!

Going back to our topic, “Bo, Obama dog”, the Whitehouse referred to him as the “first dog”. Bo is actually a comparatively rare breed of dog. These dog breeds actually have fuzzy cover which makes it hypoallergenic. Bo is the perfect dog for the Obama family considering Pres. Obama’s daughter case, Malia.

Meet Bo the Obama Dog

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

The White House just did not seem complete without a pet to round out the first family.  When President and Mrs. Obama entered the White House with their daughters, they immediately set out to find just the right canine companion to keep them company in their new home.  They decided on Bo, now known as Bo the Obama Dog.  Bo is a Portuguese water dog, with a curly black coat and a white strip on his chest and white boots on his front paws.

His name, Bo, is reported to have been determined by two different factors.  First, the girls wanted to name the pup after their cousin’s cat, and second, he has been named after one of President Obama’s favorite musical artist, Bo Diddly.

There was some controversy when the Obamas first chose Bo as their new family pet.  Animal rights groups and rescue organizations would have liked the first family to have chosen a dog from a shelter or a rescue, while Bo was from a breeder.  President Obama’s response to these concerns was that they did, indeed, look at shelters; however, due to his daughter’s allergies, they were forced to find a breed that is hypoallergenic, which meant that they could not choose a dog of mixed breeds.

Bo is, in fact, a second chance dog, however,  He had been adopted to keep an older dog company, but the two dogs had not gotten along and Bo was given back to the breeder.  In this way, he is still a rescue of sorts.

Bo, the First Dog, is a Beloved Celebrity

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

President Barack Obama has made history by becoming our nation’s first African American president.  However, stealing the spotlight these days is Bo the Obama dog.  Bo came to join the Obamas soon after their move into the White House.  A gift from the late Ted Kennedy, Bo is a Portuguese water dog.  He is a medium sized dog with curly black hair, a white chest, and white paws.

Since his adoption, the internet has been full of pictures, posts, blogs, and searches regarding this adorable guy, named after a relative’s cat and Bo Diddly.  In fact, anyone can send a stamped, self addressed envelope to the White House and receive an official Bo the Obama Dog baseball card, complete with stats.

This Christmas, the White House was adorned with a bigger than life marzipan statue of Bo, and he is the star of no less than four children’s books.  Why all the attention?  First Pets have long been beloved by the citizens of the United States, perhaps because they show a human side to our President and his family, or perhaps because it is more pleasant and more fun to focus on the President’s pet than on the government’s budget or foreign policy.

Bo traveled with the Obamas to Hawaii this Christmas.  According to Hawaii state law, Bo was subjected to two rabies shots and a rabies blood test before being allowed into the state.  He passed inspection and was allowed out of quarantine to enjoy the holiday with his family.

Bo,The Obama?s New Dog

On April 14, the White House saw a new addition. The President?s gift from Ted Kennedy is a six month old Portuguese water dog. The First daughters, Malia and Sasha picked him out, a black and white puppy, from Ted Kennedy who owns many of the same dogs personally. When choosing a name for the dog, the girls? said their maternal grandfather?s nickname was Diddley, so they chose a reference to singer Bo Diddley in honor. Since Malia has allergies, the Obama?s were considering either Labradoodle dogs or Portuguese water dogs due to their being great for those with allergies and also great pets for children.

On June 2, Bo will make a guest appearance on Pet Avengers. This is a Marvel Comic that deals with powerful pets and makes domesticated superior animals the miniseries plot. Bo Obama?s title will be ?Puppy Power: Bo Obama?, that will also have a second non-fiction piece about Barack Obama entitled ?Political Power: Barack Obama.? Superhero status has been acquired by his owner and family, so it stands to figure that Bo would get his time in the spotlight as well. In the story, Bo inherits an Infinity Gem, one of the Marvel Universe?s most coveted gems. The final gem is actually on Bo?s collar, where it was placed when he received it from a foreign head of state as a gift. Speculation as to which of the gems it will be is still being gathered. Of the gems, Space, Mind, Reality, Time, Soul, Power and Ego make up the gems available. Which one do you think he should get?

Bo The Presidential Pooch

The White House is beaming with joy; a pooch being the reason. The much awaited dog for the first family has already arrived and the family is having a nice time bringing up the pup. Bo, the dog has been brought to the house and everyone is pretty excited about his training and care. The presidential pooch is much loved and adored by the family. Bo is one of the few lucky dogs who have had the privilege of being owned by a president and being brought to the White House.

Bo And The President Obama

The dog is going to be one of those few pets who spend a lifetime of splendor and royalty. The status he enjoys is unmatched. There would be many people to take care of his needs and to bring him up properly and in an environment that brings the best out of him. Served with the best of the food, the dog would be trained by special trainers. The president?s dog would be a celebrity for the formal occasions too that will take place in the White House. He is the one who would have the access to all the private and social get-togethers of the First family.

The White House has sprawling lawns where Bo can run and play with the Obama girls, Malia and Sasha. Being a part of the first family is a privilege. Bo is going to enjoy it to the hilt. Named after Michelle Obama?s father, the dog has a special place, both in the White house and in the hearts of all the family members. The dog has made his place in the history of America for being one of the very few lucky pets that have paved their way to the presidential house. It is a dog?s life, and Bo is making the most of it.
