On April 14, the White House saw a new addition. The President’s gift from Ted Kennedy is a six month old Portuguese water dog. The First daughters, Malia and Sasha picked him out, a black and white puppy, from Ted Kennedy who owns many of the same dogs personally. When choosing a name for the dog, the girls’ said their maternal grandfather’s nickname was Diddley, so they chose a reference to singer Bo Diddley in honor. Since Malia has allergies, the Obama’s were considering either Labradoodle dogs or Portuguese water dogs due to their being great for those with allergies and also great pets for children.

On June 2, Bo will make a guest appearance on Pet Avengers. This is a Marvel Comic that deals with powerful pets and makes domesticated superior animals the miniseries plot. Bo Obama’s title will be “Puppy Power: Bo Obama”, that will also have a second non-fiction piece about Barack Obama entitled “Political Power: Barack Obama.” Superhero status has been acquired by his owner and family, so it stands to figure that Bo would get his time in the spotlight as well. In the story, Bo inherits an Infinity Gem, one of the Marvel Universe’s most coveted gems. The final gem is actually on Bo’s collar, where it was placed when he received it from a foreign head of state as a gift. Speculation as to which of the gems it will be is still being gathered. Of the gems, Space, Mind, Reality, Time, Soul, Power and Ego make up the gems available. Which one do you think he should get?

This breed is very active, smart, athletic, good respond to training and very loyal. They need very decent amount of exercise and athletic activities to channel their energy which requires a lot of hard work and time by the owner. They also need lots of grooming like regular brushing and clipping of their non-shedding hair. If feel bored they generally like to chew the very best near things to them.

The best of their qualities is that they don’t shed (almost all of them) in respect to any other breeds available, easily mingle with other pets and makes a fine watchdog. Debbye Turner Bell spoke with Harry Smith about PWD and she explained that Portuguese Water Dogs are very smart and athletic, but also that the Portuguese Water Dogs are not for every family because they’re the high energy breed.

It is found that this dog is an intelligent and obedient pup. The dog is so smart that soon he will develop some attitude as Bo will come to know that he is famous and treated like a celebrity. The other quality in this Portuguese water dog is that, this playful pup is easy to handle and doesn’t needs lot of care. This excellent swimmer is also very keen in playing with the ball. The most adorable thing about this breed is that they love remaining stick to their sentinel, because of which one gets even more attached to them. The Obama family especially Obama’s daughters put Bo on their laps every time and the pup simply loves it. This dog will not only teach Obama family to love and respect animals but makes the whole family relieved from stress.
