Every dog has its day, but there?s one dog that?s going to spend years gnawing in the President?s home. Just like his owner, the dog too has got much publicity. Before the dog was brought into the White House, there was much discussion about what breed it was going to be and what would it be named. And after the dog made his debut in the house, it was named BO. The name is different, it has to be; after all it is the president?s dog. The dog is a Portuguese water dog and was six months old when it was gifted to the Obama girls, Malia and Sasha.

Bo And The President Obama

While whole America was discussing the name on various blogs and forums, the girls came up with this name. The inspiration for the name came from their maternal grandfather?s name. Michelle Obama?s father was nicknamed Diddley. And the name came from the famous singer Bo Diddley. This became the reason why the dog was named BO. The Obama family is totally in love with the dog and has divided upon the responsibilities. Bo is the family?s first dog and is has already made a special place in everyone?s hearts.

The name of the dog also makes for the initials of the President?s name, Barack Obama. This is also one of the reasons why the pup was named BO. Sasha and Malia have cousins who have a cat named BO. Sounds like the girls are in love with the name and the dog as well. The dog is a lucky chap and for his daily playing and running around, he has the White House and the first family. His needs would be taken care by the staff and the Obama girls. The well behaved dog will also be given training, although, it was already trained by Ted Kennedy, the person who gifted the pup to Obama.
